Expert Hydrological Reviews

Over the last 20 years the firm has carried out numerous independent technical audits and expert reviews for the Federal, State and Local Governments, and for the private sector.  These expert reviews have been associated with hydrologic modelling, water resources issues and flood risk management.

The firm is regularly called upon to assess the intensity and scope of land uses that are appropriate within floodplains having regard to the prevailing flood risk and best practice floodplain management within Australia. These expert assessments have comprised independent reviews for State and Local Governments, and the courts. This work has included advice to the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry.

Within the Murray-Darling Basin, Bewshers have undertaken independent technical audits of more than 20 of the principal hydrological models prepared by the State and Federal Government water agencies and implemented using the eWater ‘Source’, IQQM and REALM software platforms. The firm has also provided expert technical support to numerous Government projects relating to the Murray-Darling Basin Plan including the implementation of water resource plans, advice on water efficiency savings projects at Menindee Lakes and elsewhere within the Basin, and assistance to the Snowy Water Inquiry.  For almost two decades the firm has been the technical auditor of all the Murray-Darling Basin Authority’s ‘Cap’ models comprising 24 valley models developed by four states and the ACT.  The firm has also provided expert advice on various projects related to the Murray-Darling Basin Salinity Management Strategy and expert reviews of the hydrological models and environmental flow objectives for the NSW Government.

The firm has been engaged by the NSW and Queensland Governments to provide independent hydrological reviews of major infrastructure projects and EISs including the Tillegra and Traveston Crossing Dam projects, numerous sections of Pacific Highway upgrades, all the NSW sectors of the Inland Rail project, major pipeline infrastructure projects and numerous reviews carried out for the private sector.
